Olaide Banks is a Houston-based singer, songwriter, community advocate and attorney.
He was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Anguilla and began signing at the age of 6 in choirs and talent showcases. Banks moved to Houston as a teenager to attend college and he established roots in Houston’s community while maintaining a firm connection to Caribbean culture.
Banks’ sound is a unique blend of his Caribbean and African origins with Soul, Acoustic and Gospel influences.
Prior to releasing his debut EP in 2018, Olaide worked successful behind the scenes in the music industry as writer, producer and manager for more than 10 years.
Banks released “The Story EP" in October 2018 across the Caribbean and Africa and is credited with bringing a fresh and accessible sound to Christian Life Music. In addition to his solo projects, Banks is a member of the worship collective called “Fellowship Houston.”
Banks is the son of reggae music pioneer Bankie Banx, and the brother of international reggae rock artiste, Omari Banks.
Olaide is married to Donyale Banks and they have one son, Omari.
