OLAIDE BANKS BIO

“My heart is for young people and young families.  My hope is that they will live lives of excellence and abundance.  So many young people have given up on life and given up on God.  We see the hurt in so many areas of our society.  We see racial and cultural divisions and injustices, and we have a tendency to blame politicians and government.  The truth is that without God’s love, a spirit of reconciliation and a commitment to social justice, we will not achieve all that God has for us.” – Olaide Banks

Olaide Banks is a Houston-based based singer, songwriter, community advocate and attorney.

He was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Anguilla and began signing at the age of 6 in choirs and talent showcases.  Banks moved to Houston as a teenager to attend college and he established roots in Houston’s community while maintaining a firm connection to the Caribbean and his culture.

Banks’ sound is a unique blend of his Caribbean and African origins with the Soul, Acoustic and Gospel influences of his coming of age in the 90s.

Prior to releasing his debut EP in 2018, Olaide worked successful behind the scenes in the music industry as writer, producer and manager for more than 10 years.

Banks released EP “The Story” EP in October 2018 across the Caribbean and Africa and has been applauded for bringing a fresh and accessible style to Christian Life Music.  In addition to his solo projects, Banks is a member of the worship collective called “Fellowship Houston.”

Banks is the son of reggae music pioneer Bankie Banx, and the brother of former West Indies Cricketer, turned international artiste, Omari Banks.

Olaide is married to Donyale Banks and they have one son, Omari.
